This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response in a range of situations, whether it be at work or socially.
The course content covers a range of different topics include Legislation & Legal Issues, Introduction to First Aid, Decision making, When to call an Ambulance, Unconsciousness and Priorities of First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Defibrillation, Hygiene, Heart Attack and Strokes, Drowning, Head and Spinal Injuries, Seizures, Diabetes, Effected by Drugs & Alcohol, Hypo & Hyperthermia, Foreign Body Obstruction, Bleeding, Shock Wounds, Eye, Ear & Nose Injuries, Burns, Fractures & Soft Tissue Injury, Bandages, Poisons, Bites & Stings, Allergic Reactions, Moving Lifting & Carrying Casualties.
Pre -Requisite
Whilst there are no pre-requisites for enrolling in this course, there are pre-course requirements. All participants are required to complete pre-course theory prior to attending their class.
Please let us know if you have any medical conditions or specials needs that may prevent you from getting on the floor. It is a requirement that CPR be performed for at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
You will be assessed for successful competency through the following:
- Practical demonstration of first aid skills and knowledge
- Theory assessments including an incident report sheet and a multiple-choice exam
Certification
On successful completion of the course, you will be issued with the nationally recognised Statement(s) of Attainments HLTAID011 Provide first aid
